Every few years a new rendition of Mr. Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" appears for moviegoers pleasure. With each new rendition, appearing brings its own cultural interpretation of such a classical piece of English literature originally published December 19th, 1843.
My present-day interpretation of "A Christmas Carol" is set to our early 21st-century urban street Hip Hop theme. In the guise of a musical with all original movie soundtrack giving those Christmas Carols sung an urban remix treatment.
The 3 ghosts of Christmas can be played by famous hip-hop artists. For example one Afro-American such as "Snoop Dog", one Caucasian such as "Eminem" and one Latino under the Reggaeton Latin Hip Hop genre. Each Hip Hop Christmas ghost playing their own themed music melody when they make their introduction into the film. Of course both "Snoop Dog & Eminem" are only general examples of potential musicians to play those roles. I'm sure a litany of potential music artists could be made available through various recording music labels.
The role of Jacob Marley the former dead business partner of Ebenezer Scrooge. Can be modeled after Mr. Charles Dickens as an homage and a cameo appearance of the said English Author.
The musical movie will be set in the Winter of present-day Detroit Michigan. Whereas in March 2009 their unemployment rate is at 25%. Those are depression era unemployment figures from the 1930's. I would hope the movie is shot in Detroit Michigan in order to bring in local revenue and jobs to their community.
The Ebenezer Scrooge will be a heartless debt collector agency owner. As a statement of our Great Economic Recession the effects we're still experiencing long after the technical recession is over. Where this present day Scrooge disliking people in general employs harsh debt collection practices.
The Carolers in this musical will sing traditional Christmas songs all under a hip-hop blended remix. Perhaps including a few original hip-hop Christmas songs for good measure to the movie soundtrack. If the movie soundtrack proves to be a standalone hit aside from the movie itself. It will generate secondary income streams in areas such as Cd's, MP3 tracks, and Ringtones.
Of course, a Novel book deal could be the precursor to the movie. In order to create a novel adaption to the musical itself by generating buzz to the movie studios.
I have yet to experience a musical treatment to the classic "A Christmas Carol". Isn't it about time one is made for avid music listeners and moviegoers alike?
