Gems of Opportunity: Land Development Concept: "The Village Complex"

Hello All,

Currently in Las Vegas later this year a very upscale luxury land development project by the Las Vegas Strip called "City Center" will be debuting. ( Basically, it is a complex of 4 hotel/condo mixed-use buildings with a shopping mall on ground level. All offered by the resort chain of "Mirage" where each of the four towers will be offered by a different luxury hotel chain.

Now consider my idea concept that takes a land development like that scale above, but doubles it. Not just for the high-end upscale citizen, although they will be included as a demographic group. The project will be directly catered towards the "Middle Class" economically speaking. By creating a nearly self-contained indoor "Village Complex" designed Oval like a sports stadium with a hurricane Plexiglas resistant domed skyline. Also the introduction of "Horizontal Elevators" going sideways allowing residents and consumers alike to efficiently travel the scope of this "Village Complex".

The reason why for such a bio-domed community of tomorrow but here today? The word is "Global Warming" temperatures along our equator will only be increasing abnormally with new record highs being a near common experience. Forcing many people indoors into a temperature controlled climate zones. Thus the pre-cursor 20th-century indoor mall will give yield to the 21st-century indoor village complex. Taking the "Mall of America" in Bloomington, Minnesota to the next generation level. (

Picture an 8 tiered indoor Village complex where from bottom to top I'll explain what I envision as the basic floor plans. Below ground level is the power plant and water/sewage treatment facility (Tier 8) following LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Standards. Above the power plant and treatment facilities and at ground level is the indoor "Parking Garage"(Tier 7). At Tier 7 we start getting at the spine backbone of this complex as in the commercial sectors. Tier 6 will include the domestic markets such as supermarket, drug store, discount store, banks, office supply store, mass-merchandiser store, an auto-parts store, etc... This tier will also include a "Police Sub-Station" if not a dedicated Security Firm contracted to protect the "Village Complex".

At Tier 5 we enter the commercial "Office Spaces" leased to small to medium businesses. Such as law firms, architects, medical practitioner offices, financial brokerage offices, real estate firms, etc... Tier 4 will include the "Shopping Mall" district with store outlets such as restaurants, fitness clubs, fast food court, boutiques, bookstores, department stores, kiosk merchants, video game arcades (LAN), coffee house, movie theaters, etc...

At Tier 3 we begin seeing the residential living units such as the low to high end "Condo" units. Where closest to the middle-end condo units will be an "Indoor Public Park" open to all. Yes, you heard me correctly a public park for children and certain athletic sports fields. This "Indoor Public Park" will have a hurricane resistant glass domed ceiling. So natural sunlight can illuminate this public park during daylight hours.

At Tier 2 we reach the Luxury Hotel Resort as the Crown Jewel of the "Village Complex". Be they tourists or business travelers coming to enjoy a skyline view of the local city. Similar to those with Condo living units in Tier 3 those in Tier 2 will have access to an "Indoor Public Scenic Park" with a pond that has waterfowl be they swans or what have you. With either local horticulture fauna or a botanical garden manicured to near perfection. If the botanical garden is utilized it will need to be cared for by an accredited research horticulturalists. The public indoor scenic park slash gardens will also have access to direct sunlight. Via a similar Plexiglas domed ceiling that is hurricane resistant much like in Tier 3.

The Crown itself will be Tier 1 with the rooftop system utilized as a green organic farm. Be it hydroponic or some other green farming practices where the produce cultivated will be consumed on site by the "Village Complex" itself. Any rainfall captured on the rooftop areas will be filtered and also utilized locally for the operations of the "Village Complex". Be it for farming, maintenance use, or potable drinking water for the local population. Including various arrays of solar power panels that follow where the sun is shining during the year. Besides that of wind turbine towers pivoting where the rooftop winds are strongest during the day.

If the "Village Complex" does take hold as a sustainable green urban living center as a form of social engineering. It can be duplicated nearly anywhere worldwide for the betterment of commerce and especially for humanity via our Earth.
