Visionary Prediction: Personal Vehicles Outlawed, Mass Transit Only

To spice things up on this blog site. I would like to toss out a forecast that i would see occurring in under the time frame of one generation or twenty years to come.

With the ever "global warming" apprehensions concerning man-made carbon emissions from fossil fuel usage. In a move by the larger developed industrial nations including the US, Europe, and certainly China. Personal automobiles will be outlawed as destructive to the environment. This will also certainly include recreational vehicles like: motorcycles, mopeds, ATVs, boats, perhaps yachts, and personal commuter aircraft.

The luxury of our generation of having these personal vehicles will be at times frowned upon. And also full of nostalgia for those that owned them in a generations time.

Mass transit will be the only venue of transportation be it: monorails, subways, trains, cruise lines, ferry ships, and airlines. Buses and vans may however also be outlawed due to the similar vehicle emissions to personal vehicles. There may be trains that handle the bulk of freight with semi-trucks also being a thing of the past.

However the government which includes the military armed forces will retain the right to use automobiles and other vehicles like tanks to conduct their business and to maintain order. Everyone else will be forced to use the mass transit grid which will be re-worked entirely. Due to our American interstate roadway system that is already very much aging and in disrepair.

If a capitalistic free market society still persists globally than expect mass transit services to range in quality of it's passengers. Similar to today's first class, business, and coach steerage based on economic affordability of its users. Where more ample space and amenities is afforded to the higher end consumer than those crammed in like sardines in coach steerage.

Since China, India, Brazil, and the rest of the developed nations of the world all concurrently living out the Western consumer lifestyle. Will inadvertently begin to choke out clean air quality standards to the point a catastrophe will force world governments and corporations to rework completely our transit systems.

This visionary prediction is seeming plausible as the years tick by under this duress with man-made carbon emissions.
